Project/Program Name:  Radio-CAD Integration
Description:  Requirements and system engineering for upgrade of conputer-controlled analog trunked radio to digital trunked radio in parallel with migration to GPS-enabled computer aided dispatch and real-time information.
Project Owner:  NJ TRANSIT
Stakeholder Agencies/Departments:   NJ TRANSIT Bus Operations, NJ TRANSIT Information Services, NJ TRANSIT Capital Programs
Involvement:  system engineering (as NJ TRANSIT employee)
Notable Challenges:  technical immaturity
Results Achieved:  NJ TRANSIT adopted the proposed communications architecture, which ultimately supported seamless interoperability between analog radio, digital radio and cellular voice communications, with any number of buses operating in any of the three modes simultaneously during the transition periods.
Critical Actions:  Engaged radio team and other affected stakeholders; validated assumptions; mapped data flows in detail.
Period of Involvement:  2010
